Community Survey

Dear Southland Residents and Staff,

The Southland School District mission is to provide high-quality learning opportunities that guide our students to become:

  • Inspired learners
  • Effective communicators
  • Productive workers
  • Compassionate citizens
  • Resourceful thinkers

We know that to be successful, we must continue to work in partnership with you, our parents and community members. As a result, one of the goals of the District’s Strategic Plan is to improve communication and engagement with all District stakeholders. To help accomplish this goal, we’re reaching out to our staff, parents and the broader community with this survey. When we are done, we want to be able to answer the following questions with confidence:

  • What are we doing well?
  • Where do we need to improve?
  • Where do we need to adjust and/or focus more resources?
  • What are the most significant planning priorities?

All district residents will receive one paper version survey per household in the mail and parents/staff will also receive an electronic version of the survey via email. We would like to have staff members living inside or outside of the district fill out the survey as we want all staff input for these questions as well. We have hired School Perceptions, an independent educational research firm, to conduct the survey and ensure all responses are kept confidential. We are asking that all district residents, parents, and staff respond to a survey that will be mailed/emailed out in the coming weeks from School Perceptions. To ensure data integrity, each survey invitation/link code can only be used once. As such, you must access the survey through your mail/email invitation code, not a forwarded email or link. The survey access number will not identify you; it simply links you to the District's survey. However, the software is able to track survey completion via the link code and encourage participation of non-respondents. School Perceptions’ privacy policy guarantees your email address will not be used/shared for any purpose other than the contracted survey. The survey will be open through May 29th at 5:00 PM. If you do not receive a mail or email invitation to complete the survey please check your “spam/junk” folder and then contact the district office for assistance.
